Planning Commission Non-Membership

As administrative officials of the city, the commission is responsible to the City Manager for the performance of their duties.

The city planning commission shall have such powers concerning the preparation and adoption of a master plan or any part thereof, the making of surveys as a basis for such plan, the approval of public improvements, the carrying out of educational and publicity programs, the approval of plats and such other rights, powers, duties, and responsibilities as are provided in sections 6 to 15 of Act No. 285 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1931 (MCL 125.31 et seq.), as amended. The city planning commission shall make reports and recommendations to the city council, provided, however, that no such recommendation shall be binding upon the city council.
